Venue : Rail Théâtre
Town (country) : Lyon (France)
Date : December 20th 2002
Grade : 3/5

Comments : My first encounter of this truly cult act. Happily very far from his past career in Napalm Death, but probably one of the best projects in the electro scene.

Doppler - Rail Théâtre - December 19th 2002

Band : Doppler
Venue : Rail Théâtre
Town (country) : Lyon (France)
Date : December 19th 2002
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :

Comments : Undoubtly one of my favorite acts from Lyon. I discovered them by accident one evening in Villeurbanne and I have been to every single show they played in town between 2001 and 2004. Energic, dark and loud.

Toshimaru Nakamura - Kafé Myzik - December 14th 2002

Band : Toshimaru Nakamura
Venue : Kafé Myzik
Town (country) : Lyon (France)
Date : December 14th 2002
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I went to see almost every single show at Kafé Myzik for the year it was around. Lots of Japanese artists performed there, ranging from very interesting to very abstract. This was a short and minimal electronic set, but overall unremarkable.

The Psychic Paramount - Kafé Myzik - December 13th 2002

Band : The Psychic Paramount
Venue : Kafé Myzik
Town (country) : Lyon (France)
Date : December 13th 2002
Grade : 5/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I went to see the show for the opening band and I am really happy I stuck around for the main act. The atmosphere on stage was extremely tense (mainly because of tension between the Japanese drummer and the rest of the band). What could have been a train wreck turned into an excellent improvised concert. Truly memorable.

Opahb - Kafé Myzik - December 13th 2002

Band : Opahb
Venue : Kafé Myzik
Town (country) : Lyon (France)
Date : December 13th 2002
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : A great local act from that time period, a nice industrial set in the true sense of the word. I am still searching for their deleted CDr release on SK Records.

Band : Porn
Venue : Le Bistroy
Town (country) : Lyon (France)
Date : December 12th 2002
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : One of the first shows of the local goth/glam act who will no doubt see their share of success in the coming years, but will lose their spontaneity and creativity. Enjoyable nonetheless.

Comments : Undoubtedly the best Cure setlist I have ever seen, although maybe a bit too long. I am sorry to admit, but even with a great setlist like that, I no longer enjoy their music. I saw them again a few weeks later at the Paleo festival in Switzerland and had the flipside of The Cure with a poppy concert. It was maybe less static but way worse. Well, I guess tastes change.

The Mission - Zillo Festival - July 13th 2002

Comments : I had low expectations based on recent album releases, but I really enjoyed the setlist. A nice concert in the daylight or should I say sunlight.

Date : July 13th 2002
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :
Stoned, Fired And Full Of Grace
The Attack
Tales Of The Road

Snelsmore Wood
You Weren't There
Green And Grey

225

Comments : This is one of the shows I really wanted to see at the Zillo Festival. It seemed lots of other people had the same idea, (most probably because of the rain and the fact it was on the tent stage). Accompanied by Dean White & Michael Dean, Justin Sullivan's concert sounded like an acoustic version of New Model Army. An energetic show featuring a nice setlist, with a good selection of NMA classics. Too bad the venue was overcrowded with people more intrested in shelter than the actual concert.
