Carla Bozulich - Sonic - May 31st 2008

Band : Carla Bozulich
Venue : Sonic
Town (country) : Lyon (France)
Date : May 31st 2008
Grade : 5/5

Setlist :

Comments : The more I see Carla Bozulich, the more I enjoy her shows. Tonight's performance was amazing. There was something extremely deep and violent in the performance. The rest of the tour (except a couple of shows)  was cancelled because Carla had something broken in her hand.

Experience - Le Fil - May 23rd 2008

Band : Experience

Venue : Le Fil
Town (country) : Saint-Etienne (France)
Date : May 23rd 2008
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I have seen Experience a lot back in 2001. Still pretty good and nice on stage, despite the very small attendance, which reminds me of the Diabologum concert in 1997 here in Saint Etienne. The venue is a brand new one, pretty nice also with nice people there and (I have to mention it) a nice and polite security.

Comments : It had been over a year I had not seen AntiGlück. A brand new song called The Curse had been added to their set. A nice show as usual.

Raymonde Howard - Thinderbird Lounge - May 17th 2008

Band : Raymonde Howard

Venue : Thunderbird Lounge
Town (country) : Saint-Etienne (France)
Date : May 17th 2008
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I remember Laetitia back about 20 years ago when she was the singer of the local band Goofball.  Raymonde Howard is her lattest solo project, even if tonight she will be performing as a duo with Twins In Barcelona. Nice light and minimal pop music, somewhere between PJ Harvey and early Cocorosie. A great show.

Comments : Third and last London show for this tour and the only one I took my camera with me. Barry Adamson opened for The Bad Seeds on the first two nights and the infamous Dave Graney was back tonight. This 2008 European tour was probably the best tour since 14 years.

Band : Witch
Venue : Camden Underworld
Town (country) : London (UK)
Date : May 5th 2008

Comments : What could/should have also been a nice surprise turned out to be a pretty boring evening. J Mascis on drums did not make the band sound interesting enough to me.

Lydia Lunch - Corsica Studios - May 4th 2008

Band : Lydia Lunch
Venue : Corsica Studios
Town (country) : London (UK)
Date : May 4th 2008
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :

Comments : Quite a nice surprise. I just found out that Lydia Lunch was playing on the morning while reading through Time Out. And, an even nice surprise, while everyone was expecting James Johnston to be on tour with The Bad Seeds, he was actually playing a few shows with Lydia. Tonight's show was really good, probably one of the best times I have seen Lydia Lunch.
