Anne Clark - Gothic Festival - July 27th 2008

Band : Anne Clark
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 27th 2008
Grade : 1/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : A truely disappointing show. The band playing with Anne Clark sounded like mainstream music... the worst being the guitar player and his Dire Straits-ish solos. The show literally emptied the festival.

The Neon Judgement - Gothic Festival - July 27th 2008

Band : The Neon Judgement
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 27th 2008
Grade : 4/5

Comments : A great vintage show, including great songs like Tv Treated, Factory Walk, Nion, and finishing with Chinese Black. Thank you.

Trisomie 21 - Gothic Festival - July 27th 2008

Band : Trisomie 21
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 27th 2008
Grade : 2/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : A really amazing beginning of concert with great songs as Joh'Burg, La Fête Triste, The Last Song... But (yes I have to justify that grade) a really boring second half of the set; leaving you a bad impression.

Comments : Last time I saw this band was on the reunion tour back 8 years ago. Sadly, this time, the only original member is Karl McCoy, and the new musicians are much less skilled than the originals. Still a pretty good show.

Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio - Gothic Festival - July 26th 2008

Band : Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 26th 2008
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : Out of the "recent" Cold Meat Industry acts, Ordo (Rosarius) Equilibrio is one of the few that still keeps my interest with time. This is nice to see a real live band on stage, and also nice to see that Jouni from In Slaughter Natives is part of the show. A pretty nice show; however where is the girl who is on the bands photos ?

In Slaughter Natives - Gothic Festival - July 26th 2008

Band : In Slaughter Natives
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 26th 2008
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : In Slaughter Natives in my favorite band on Cold Meat Industry. Although, it is global knowledge that CMI bands are not always known for putting the best live shows. This was my 4th ISN show (and 2nd in Waregem), and I have to admit I had been a bit disappointed by their concert in Lyon back 4 years ago. Gladly, the concert was pretty good and very powerful this night.

Spectra*Paris - Gothic Festival - July 25th 2008

Band : Spectra*Paris
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 26th 2008
Grade : 1/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I have to stay that I really hate Kirlian Camera before I start, and I did not like her side project at all either. Ok, the girl is hot but this is not enough for me to enjoy the music. Sorry.

Empusae - Gothic Festival - July 26th 2008

Band : Empusae
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 26th 2008
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : With time I am getting less and less interested in seeing concerts where the band is a guy playing behind a table. Actually, I really like the music of Empusae so I had a great time seeing him live once again.

Absolute Body Control - Gothic Festival - July 25th 2005

Band : Absolute Body Control
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 25th 2008
Grade : 1/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I do not really understand why this project by Dirk Ivens is so popular at the moment. I found the show extremely boring compared to Dive or Klinit. I don't get it.

Clan Of Xymox - Gothic Festival - July 25th 2005

Band : Clan Of Xymox
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 25th 2008
Grade : 1/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : It seems like the more I see Clan Of Xymox, the less I enjoy them. Please Roony, stop trying to sound like an electro band. Did not even stay for the whole show.

Fixmer McCarty - Gothic Festival - July 25th 2008

Band : Fixmer McCarty
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 25th 2008
Grade : 2/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : Here again, being an old time fan of Nitzer Ebb, this was something I wanted to check out. Nonetheless, the presence of Douglas McCarty was not enough for me to enjoy that show. This is really not my kind of stuff at all.

32 Crash - Gothic Festival - July 25th 2008

Band : 32 Crash
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 25th 2008
Grade : 2/5

Setlist :
Merlin's Gun
Porcupine
Propaganda
Slow Crash
Dust And Drought
Plutonian Breeders
Party
Spacemen And Poets
Beware
Let me Enjoy
Isomodia

Comments : Another new project by Jean-Luc De Meyer. As a long long time follower of Front 242, this was definitely something I had to see. Not really my kind of stuff though, but still good to see Jean-Luc on stage. This guy is great and very nice to talk to.

Psyche - Gothic Festival - July 25th 2008

Band : Psyche
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 25th 2008
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I remember the first time I saw Psyche live. I ended up on stage grabbing Darrin by the neck and singing "Goodbye Horses" with him. Well I stayed more quiet (and sober) tonight. Another pleasant show including Goodbye Horses, Sex Dwarf, Unveiling The Secrets (even though I am not really crazy about the new version) and a Joy Division cover.

Dolls Of Pain - Gothic Festival - July 25th 2008

Band : Dolls Of Pain
Venue : Gothic Festival
Town (country) : Waregem (Belgium)
Date : July 25th 2008
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I am not going to say nice things about them juste because they are my friends, but I really enjoy to see Dolls Of Pain in concert. This is definitely not the usual kind of music I listen to nowadays, but they are definitely great in what they are doing.

Comments : An incredible show. Mogwai performed their album Young Team for 2 festivals in Spain this Summer and I was lucky to see one of them. Aidan Moffat from Arab Strap joined the band on stage for R U Still In 2 It. Amazing and history.

Grinderman - Summercase Festival - July 18th 2008

Band : Grinderman
Venue : Summercase Festival
Town (country) : Barcelona (Spain)
Date : July 18th 2008
Grade : 5/5

Setlist :
Depth Charge Ethel
Get It On
Electric Alice
Grinderman
I Don't Need You To) Set Me Free
When My Love Comes Down
Honey Bee (Let's Fly To Mars)
Dream
Man In The Moon
No Pussy Blues
Love Bomb

Comments : A great show in a great festival. One song shorter than the show I saw in Belfort, but a much more respectful and mature audience. Nick is much more relaxed in Grinderman than with The Bad Seeds where he keeps his dandy standards. Including one brand new song called Dream which will feature in the upcoming Wim Wenders movie.

Extra : Electric Alice (video)

Town (country) : Lyon (France)
Date : July 3rd 2008
Grade : 3/5

Comments : Freshly reunioned for the a concert at the Sub Pop 20 years anniversary in Seattle, Les Thugs played a few shows in France and I was lucky to catch them in Lyon. A nice show, the band is definitely having a good time on stage.
