Julie Doiron - Il Motore - March 28th 2009

Band : Julie Doiron
Venue : Il Motore
City (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : March 28th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : Great to see Julie Doiron once again. I really like the fact that she does not have a proper setlist ready and she plays the songs she wants or that the audience asks her to play. Julie was accompanied by a drummer on stage and came back for a couple of more songs by herself after the lights went on and the house music started. A really nice show.

Thisquietarmy - L'envers - March 27th 2009

Comments : Yes, another Thisquietarmy show. I know some of you might think I see this artist too often... Another good show. Tonight featured a shorter version of the set Eric played at Le Divan Orange a couple of weeks back. A good balance of old tracks and new unreleased ones.

Akron/Family - Il Motore - March 26th 2009

Band : Akron/Family
Venue : Il Motore
City (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : March 26th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : Third time I see Akron/Family. The first time I saw them, I hated the show.  The second time I really enjoyed it (both times they opened for Angels of Light). Tonight ended up being a really nice 1 hour show (no encores). Unfortunately, the show was marred by three annoying kids in front row who spent the entire time talking.

Sam Shalabi's Land Of Kush - Sala Rossa - March 24th 2009

Band : Sam Shalabi's Land Of Kush
Venue : Sala Rossa
City (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : March 24th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : Sam Shalabi's new project featuring 27 musicians on stage (and on the floor in this case). The band creates a very nice atmosphere, very trippy and psychedelic at times. Great show. I wish I could have seen last night's performance as well.

Bitterness Theory - Jocelyn's - March 19th 2009

Band : Bitterness Theory
Venue : Jocelyn's
City (country) : Media, PA (USA)
Date : March 19th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
There Is
Living in Disguise
4 weeks/3 days
Lullabye
Desperately Lost
Waiting
Black & White
Joey (Concrete Blonde cover)
Home

Comments : A nice show, although maybe a bit more rock than what I usually listen to. The band's makeup is a good balance between veteran musicians and a younger singer. Nice to see Joe & Rick playing together again 10 years after Gravedance. Definitely worth checking out.

Comments : Great show ! Probably the best one of the year so far. It was my 6th Tindersticks concert in over 10 years. Tonight's show was much better than the two I saw last year in Brussels and London. Concert lasted almost 2 hours including a second encore with  Lhasa.

Band : Cloudscapes
Venue : Le Cagibi
City (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : March 4th 2009

Comments : Undoubtly my favorite Cloudscapes concert up to now, and his shows are getting better every time I see him. Etienne started playing the guitar with a bow and added samples of old classroom educational lectures. A very nice show, the beginning was simply amazing.

...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - Sala Rossa - March 3rd 2009

Band : ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
Venue : Sala Rossa
City (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : March 3rd 2009
Grade : 2/5

Far Pavilions
Isis Unveiled
Homage
Bells Of Creation
Smile Again
Fields Of Coal
Relative Ways
Clair De Lune
Perfect Teenhood

Comments : A rather disappointing show. It wasn't really bad per se, but I was expecting more. The band had really impressed me the first (and last) time I saw them in Brussels in 2005. Tonight's show lacked energy and never got going. One of those shows you won't remember.

Funeral Party - Sala Rossa - March 3rd 2009
