Comments : Nice to see Antoine again before going back to the other side of the pond. For his second show as OOTS, he seemed more in his element and showcased once again his talent as an excellent guitar player. Sadly, the very young audience seemed more interested in the opening act : a parade of dolls (sic) than in the headliner, go figure...

Comments : This show wasn't just another Punish Yourself show, it was The Incredible Punish Yourself Picture Show. It featured an extensive line-up of up to 11 musicians and performers on stage together. The show was cut short due to delays unfortunately, but remained, as usual, very efficient. It was a great evening indeed. I can't wait to see them again next year ! (Please note that I normally wouldn't attend this sort of festival, mainly because of their usual music selections and a rather strict/aggressive security).

Klangstabil - Summer Darkness - August 8th 2009

Band : Klangstabil
Venue : Tivoli de Helling (Summer Darkness)
City (country) : Utrecht (The Netherlands)
Date : August 8th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I have very vague memories of my previous Klangstabil concert. It was in 2002 in Philadelphia and I wasn't really impressed. Contrary to that show, tonight's concert was really quite good. A great show to finish the evening.

Front 242 - Summer Darkness - August 8th 2009

Band : Front 242
Venue : Tivoli
City (country) : Utrecht (The Netherlands)
Date : August 8th 2009
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I was a bit disappointed with last year's Front 242 concert at M'era Luna. Tonight's show was really good indeed, and included an amazing version of Kampfbereit. Undoubtedly their best concert I have seen in the last 10 years.

Brighter Death Now - Summer Darkness - August 8th 2009

Band : Brighter Death Now
Venue : Eko (Summer Darkness)
City (country) : Utrecht (The Netherlands)
Date : August 8th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : Brighter Death Now is probably the most extreme act on Cold Meat Industry. I remember him painting the words "I wish I was a little girl" back in 1997 during a show in Waregem. Today, Roger Karmanik was accompanied by another person on stage. They performed in front of an autopsy video projection. As expected, a good, powerful and harsh set, despite some technical difficulties at the beginning.

Comments : Last time I saw Matt Howden was 5 years ago, on my birthday. He was still playing with Tony Wakeford. Today's was a nice outdoors show in the center of Utrecht and Matt remains one of the most ingenious violin players I have seen.

Pikelet - L'assomoir - August 1st 2009

Band : Pikelet
Venue : L'assomoir
City (country) : Saint Etienne (France)
Date : August 1st 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I went to see the show with no real expectations, mainly to support a friend who was promoting the evening. It ended up being a pretty good one, despite the soporific and uninspired local opening act. Saint Etienne is definitely more alive for live concerts than what I thought.
