Town (country) : Montreal, QC(Canada)
Date : September 30th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Comments : It has been a few months since I have seen Cloudscapes live. Tonight's show was really different from what I was expecting, showing a more "glitch" side. Not my favorite concert, but nice to see as usual.

Nick Cave - Saint Brigid's Centre - September 17th 2009

Band : Nick Cave
Venue : Saint Brigid's Centre For The Arts And Humanities (Writer's Festival)
City (country) : Ottawa, ON (Canada)
Date : September 17th 2009
Grade : n/a

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : Not a real concert per se. Nick Cave's is touring to promote his new book: The Death Of Bunny Monro. Tonight's event took place in a deconsecrated church and included readings by Nick Cave, a discussion with local writer/poet David O'Meara and a Q&A with the audience. Not as good as a Bad Seeds show, but definitely nice to see Nick Cave in a different environment.

Comments : Unlike everyone who came with me to ATP this year, this is not one of the shows I was particularly looking forward to see. Yet, I must admit I had a pretty good time. The band gave a really nice performance and showed a great attitude compared to last year's curators. I am still not going to listen to any of their albums at home, but I might actually go to see them again next time they're in town.

Town (country) : Monticello, NY (USA)
Date : September 13th 2009
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :

Comments : I was looking forward to see Boris again after the great set they played last year, opening for Nine Inch Nails. The band performed the entire "Feedbacker" album. I never heard the album before but the show exceeded my expectations. The audience was much more attentive.

Jim Jarmusch - ATP New York - September 13th 2009

Band : Jim Jarmusch
Venue : Kutshers Country Club (ATP New York)
Town (country) : Monticello, NY (USA)
Date : September 13th 2009
Grade : n/a

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I had always skipped the Criterion Cinema screenings at ATP in favour of the live concerts until now. However, I could definitely not pass on Mystery Train introduced by Jim Jarmusch. The introduction was followed by a Q&A with the audience. The whole event was very relax and informal and therefore really enjoyable.

Boredoms - ATP New York - September 13th 2009

Band : Boredoms
Venue : Kutshers Country Club (ATP New York)
Town (country) : Monticello, NY (USA)
Date : September 13th 2009
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : Another cult band performing at ATP this year. Boredoms performed Boredrum, featuring 9 drummers on stage. A great and very trippy concert, despite the unacceptable attitude of the sound technicians who cut off the power because of schedule delays.

Oneida - ATP New York - September 13th 2009

Band : Oneida
Venue : Kutshers Country Club (ATP New York)
Town (country) : Monticello, NY (USA)
Date : September 13th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :

Comments : An all day event which featured guest musicians from the festival. I went in the morning and was lucky enough to see members of Akron/Family performing with them. Didn't really sound like either band, but I will probably try to catch them on their own in the future.

Comments : It was actually a very nice surprise to find out that Boss Hog were still around. I really enjoyed them the first time I saw the band, back in... 1995. A nice one as expected, with a great interaction between John Spencer and his wife.

Akron/Family - ATP New York - September 12th 2009

Town (country) : Monticello, NY (USA)
Date : September 12th 2009

Comments : A nice, short set, including one very long track that made up almost half of it. The show was more "violent" than I expected and featured the same guest "drummers" as the last time I saw them.

Jesus Lizard - ATP New York - September 11th 2009

Band : Jesus Lizard
Venue : Kutshers Country Club (ATP New York)
Town (country) : Monticello, NY (USA)
Date : September 11th 2009
Grade : 2/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : Still jetlagged and tired from the 7 hours drive to the festival site, it was unfortunately getting too late for me to fully appreciate the Jesus Lizard reunion. I was expecting something more extreme and I could not really get into it. Too bad.

Suicide - ATP New York - September 11th 2009

Band : Suicide
Venue : Kutshers Country Club (ATP New York)
Town (country) : Monticello, NY (USA)
Date : September 11th 2009
Grade : 5/5

Setlist :
Ghostrider
Rocket U.S.A.
Cheree
Johnny
Girl
Frankie Teardrop
Che
Dream Baby Dream

Comments : Another band I had seen only once before and another show I was really looking forward to this year. Suicide performed their first (self-titled) LP, but like the Drones and Dirty Three, they did not play the whole album. They did manage to do most of it, despite everyone's doubts. I love Martin Rev & Alan Vega's stage presence and really enjoyed tonight's performance. Another great show as expected.

Dirty Three - ATP New York - September 11th 2009

Band : Dirty Three
Venue : Kutshers Country Club (ATP New York)
Town (country) : Monticello, NY (USA)
Date : September 11th 2009
Grade : 5/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I've only seen Dirty Three once before and this show was undoubtedly one of the reasons I bought an ATP pass. The fact that they performed their album "Ocean Songs" was not an especially big deal for me though. Like the Drones before them, they did not perform the whole album, but the cherry on the cake was the surprise special guest on piano: Nick Cave! What a memorable show!

The Drones - ATP New York - September 11th 2009

Band : The Drones
Venue : Kutshers Country Club (ATP New York)
Town (country) : Monticello, NY (USA)
Date : September 11th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : A nice concert to start off 3 days of music. The Drones opened the festival by playing their album "Wait Long By The River And The Bodies Of Your Enemies Will Float By". Although they did not play the whole album and did not stick to the album's track order, it was good to see them again.

Astro - Sonic - September 4th 2009

Band : Astro
Venue : Sonic
City (country) : Lyon (France)
Date : September 4th 2009
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I have always enjoyed japanoise and I've had the chance to see C.C.C.C. twice 11 years ago. I was really looking forward to see Hiroshi Hasegawa, who is now performing solo as Astro. Well, I wasn't disappointed. A really great set, starting out very quiet and growing in intensity as it evolved. Hiroshi used a couple of metal plates plugged into several pedals. A wonderful show and a very nice way to spend my last night in Lyon.
