Message To Bears - Jamboree - December 14th 2009

Band : Message To Bears
Venue : Jamboree
Town (country) : London (UK)
Date : December 14th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I was expecting a solo performance and a full band showed up on stage. A more "serious" set to end the evening (the Wonder Woman videos were not such a great idea here), and the band actually made the songs much more interesting than what I had heard on the myspace. Nice, quiet and trippy.

Panic Attract - Jamboree - December 14th 2009

Band : Panic Attract
Venue : Jamboree
Town (country) : London (UK)
Date : December 14th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :

Comments : Not my usual kind of music, still a rather nice show in a great venue. The two members were obviously having fun on stage. The old Wonder Woman videos projected nicely complemented the atmosphere of the concert, though I don't think it was quite what the band intended.

Emboe - Le Pixi - December 11th 2009

Band : Emboe
Venue : Le Pixi
Town (country) : Paris (France)
Date : December 11th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :

Comments : The very first live show for Emboe was somewhat interesting musically. A video screening and/or seats in the venue would have been a welcomed addition.

Alexander Hacke & Danielle De Picciotto - Sala Rossa - December 5th 2009

Band : Alexander Hacke & Danielle De Picciotto
Venue : Sala Rossa
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : December 5th 2009
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : And now for something completely different. The second evening, Alexander Hacke and his wife Danielle De Picciotto, presented a show entitled "History Of Electricity". Another really nice performance, even if I was less convinced by the more beat-oriented songs.

Alexander Hacke & Danielle De Picciotto - Sala Rossa - December 4th 2009

Band : Alexander Hacke & Danielle De Picciotto
Venue : Sala Rossa
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : December 4th 2009
Grade : 5/5

Setlist :
The Thing Of Desire
Rye Whiskey
Hey God
Violent March
The Grind
Prayer
The Golden Calf
Lullaby
Blacklist
Quiet Village

Comments : Alexander Hacke is the third member of Einstürzende Neubauten that I get to see performing solo (after Blixa Bargeld and FM Einheit). I did not really know what to expect, as I have only ever heard his 1993 solo album Filmarbeiten. Tonight's show "The Ship Of Fools" takes us on a voyage far away from that album and from the Neubauten nebula. A great mise en scène, somewhere between Tiger Lillies and The Residents, and a really great concert. See you tomorrow.
