Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra - L'Alhambra - March 31st 2010

Band : Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra
Venue : L'Alhambra
Town (country) : Paris (France)
Date : March 31st 2010
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :
I Built Myself A Metal Bird
There Is A Light
13 Blues For Thirteen Moons
Piphany Rambler
1,000,000 Died To Make This Sound
Microphones In The Trees

Comments : And now for something exotic : Thee Silver Mt Zion in Paris. I now remember why I didn't like seeing shows in Paris much : the very annoying, uptight, arty farty, poser audience. Despite this annoyance and the very "welcoming" full-body pat down at the entrance, it was a really nice evening. I honestly did not know what to expect from the current line-up of ASMZ, (which is actually the same one as ATPNY 2 years ago). The setlist featured only songs from the last coupe of albums, peppered with a few rants by Efrim wishing they were Teenage Jesus & The Jerks. A very good 2 hours show. A Place To Bury Strangers - Cabaret Juste Pour Rire - March 26th 2010

Band : A Place To Bury Strangers
Venue : Cabaret Juste Pour Rire
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : March 26th 2010
Grade : 2/5

Setlist :
In Your Heart
Exploding Head
I Know I'll See You
Ego Death
To Fix The Gash In Your Head
I Lived My Life To Stand In The Shadow Of Your Heart

Comments : Despite last year's rather disappointing concert experience, I decided to give A Place To Bury Strangers another try. Sadly, tonight's performance confirmed my previous impressions. The band put on a decent set, but it was far from their brilliant first show a couple of years back. I actually got bored at some point. Line-up was different this time with a new bass player on hand.

RDC - L'envers - March 12th 2010

Band : RDC
Venue : L'envers
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : March 12th 2010
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :

Comments : This month is definitely lacking interesting shows for me. What is even more frustrating is that twice I had to choose between 2 concerts on the same evening. (I have yet to figure out how to be at two different places at the same time.) I chose to go see Peter's first live concert since his move to Montreal. The general frustration continued as tonight's concert started later than expected (of course...) and 2 bands got inverted, so I could have probably gone to both shows had I known beforehand. Anyways, a nice, harsh and short (9 minutes) set.
