Eric Craven & Mark Molnar - Casa Del Popolo - June 29th 2014

Band : Eric Craven & Mark Molnar
Venue : Casa Del Popolo
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : June 29th 2014
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : After seeing Nick and Eric performing as a duo, I was quite curious to see what Eric & Marc could bring together on stage even if I already had a rough idea from the cassette they put out last year. Once again, I was not disappointed. There was an amazing progression to the short (20 minutes or so) performance and lots of intensity built up between the two performers. A very nice collaboration.

1/4 Tonne - Casa Del Popolo - June 25th 2014

Band : 1/4 Tonne
Venue : Casa Del Popolo
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : June 25th 2014
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :

Comments : Eric and Nick performed once more as a trio with Mark Molnar tonight, this time as 1/4 Tonne. The result was really different than their previous set at La Plante, but it was definitely another extremely enjoyable performance as expected. I really love these guys.

Thisquietarmy - La Vitrola - June 21st 2014

Band : Thisquietarmy
Venue : La Vitrola (Suoni Per Il Popolo)
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : June 21st 2014
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :

Comments : I was quite curious to check the brand new venue opened by the owners of Casa Del Popolo/Sala Rossa. Although, just like Pharmakon last week, I did not really understand tonight's line up. What on hell was Eric doing here ? Nevertheless, he performed a very nice set, probably the most punk TQA show I have ever seen.

Comments : The Swans are definitely one of the best bands I have seen live. Tonight was no exception, once again this was an amazing performance, and the perfect balance to my two previous evenings with Low.

Xiu Xiu - Le National - June 18th 2014

Venue : Le National (Suoni Per Il Popolo)
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)

Comments : I was told that people usually love or hate Xiu Xiu performances, so I was quite curious to see this one. Sadly, tonight's set left me uninspired and I found the music simply not interesting. Boo.

Comments : Tonight's show was quite similar than last night, but no complains here, although the venue was far from being packed. The video projections worked much better and we got Canada added to the setlist. I am really glad I managed to see them twice on this tour !

Low - Sala Rossa - June 16th 2014

Band : Low

Date : June 16th 2014

Last Snowstorm Of The Year

Comments : Just like Bardo Pond a few days ago, tonight was actually my very first time seeing Low neither as an opening band nor at a festival. Gladly, it was a really fantastic show as expected, although the video projections did not work at all on the red velvet curtains of the Sala Rossa. I was pretty happy by the setlist which included 3 of my all time favourite Low tracks : Especially Me, Murderer & Pissing. See you tomorrow !

Bardo Pond - Sala Rossa - June 14th 2014

Band : Bardo Pond
Venue : Sala Rossa (Suoni Per Il Popolo)
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : June 14th 2014
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : Every time I have seen Bardo Pond before they were performing either as an opening band or at a festival, so tonight was actually my first time seeing a full set. A nice show as expected, mostly composed of new material. Although I found the 1 1/2 hour performance a bit too long and started to lose a bit of interest towards the end.

Pharmakon - Sala Rossa - June 13th 2014

Band : Pharmakon
Venue : Sala Rossa (Suoni Per Il Popolo)
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : June 13th 2014
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :

Comments : I had missed her performance last year (I was at The Cure), so I was really looking forward to see Pharmakon this time. Margaret performed a 17 minutes set, short and extremely powerful as expected. I really enjoyed it a lot.

Sam Shalabi & Stefan Christoff - Casa Del Popolo - June 6th 2014

Band : Sam Shalabi & Stefan Christoff
Venue : Casa Del Popolo (Suoni Per Il Popolo)
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : June 6th 2014
Grade : 4/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : The collaboration between Sam Salabi & Stefan Christoff was one of my favourite records of 2013 so this was definitely a performance I did not want to miss. The magic worked as perfectly on stage as on the record and I really enjoyed the show a lot despite some really annoying audience members who spent the whole show talking.

Steve Bates & Seijiro Murayama - Casa Del Popolo - June 6th 2014

Band : Steve Bates & Seijiro Murayama
Venue : Casa Del Popolo (Suoni Per Il Popolo)
Town (country) : Montreal, QC (Canada)
Date : June 6th 2014
Grade : 3/5

Setlist :
n/a

Comments : I have dug quite a whole bunch into Steve Bates' discography since my first encounter with his music and I really like what I found a lot. Tonigh's concert was no exception, and Steve was absolutely great. I will be more reserved on Seijiro Murayama's actual input in the live performance.
